Privacy policy

Information we use

We process your email address, account and sign-in identifiers, profile name and picture, age-range information, photos and crop selections, upload location, trails, votes, comments, likes, saves, reports and account settings. Authentication providers may supply your name, email and provider identifier.

Photos and location

When you post a slap, we use the device location you permit or the point you select on the map. This can include precise coordinates. Public map locations are approximate; precise coordinates are restricted. Crops and other approved media, your public profile and contributions may be visible to other users. Original photos are processed for safety and to create crops. Avoid uploading people, private information or sensitive places.

Why we process information

We use information to provide accounts, maps and trails; compare designs; show community contributions; handle moderation, security and deletion; and maintain and improve the service. We do not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising.

Usage analytics and diagnostics

Share usage analytics is enabled by default for new accounts. You can turn it off in Profile, Settings, Privacy at any time. When enabled, product events can include account and device identifiers, app version, platform and activity. Turning this setting off stops optional usage reporting; it does not stop the processing needed to provide the app.

Minimal operational error reports are separate from usage analytics and may be collected before sign-in. They contain redacted errors, operations, timing, platform and app or OS versions, not credentials, request payloads, photos or location. Server error reports expire after 30 days; unsent device reports expire after seven days.

Service providers and overseas processing

Slapz uses Supabase for accounts, databases and image storage, Google Cloud for image safety and matching, Google Maps for maps, Expo for application delivery, Vercel for this website and administration, Resend for account emails, and Sentry for diagnostics. These providers may process information outside Australia. Apple or Google also process information when you use their sign-in or app distribution services.

Retention, access and deletion

Account and contribution data is kept while needed to operate the service. You can request access or correction, or delete your account and associated data. Some contributions are anonymised where needed to preserve shared trails. Limited safety records and deletion receipts may remain for security, legal obligations or dispute handling. Backups expire according to their retention schedules and are not used to restore deleted public profiles.

Account deletion options are available in the app and without reinstalling it. Contact us from your account email so we can verify ownership before handling a personal-data request.

This website

The public website does not use advertising trackers or marketing analytics. Our hosting providers process connection information and security logs to deliver and protect it. Administrator sign-in uses session storage; public policy pages do not require an account.
